How to solve iTunes error 3194 in 10 simple steps

iOS users usually experience error 3194 while updating their iOS device firmware.The reason behind this issue is caused due to communication error between iTunes software and the Apple server .This error can be resolved by editing the "hosts" file in your computer which helps the iTunes to connect with the Apple server. So issue is simple.

Step 1


Check whether you are running the latest iTunes on your pc . if not download the latest itunes from this link http://www.apple.com/in/itunes/download/

if you have already installed the iTunes in your Windows PC ,and if the version of iTunes is before 11.1.4 , you need to update iTunes software to latest version using "check for update" in iTunes "help" option.

This is important because apple will only allow their devices to get updated only after communication with its server.it will only allow you to update to its latest update on iOSdevice.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest firmware for iOS device like iPhone,iPod or your iPad or if you are directly clicking on update or restore it will automatically update to its latest firmware version.




Step 2


If you have updated your iTunes, navigate to "C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/ "

Here you can see the "hosts" named file ..

Step 4


Create a copy of "hosts" file and keep it in desktop or some other place .This is done for just for safety.

Open it using notepad ( right click the "hosts" file you can see open with option )

Step 6


Open the "hosts" file you see something like this

Step 7


Remove this line from the "hosts" file

# 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

Step 8


Close the file It will ask you save the file then press "YES"

Step 9


Restart your computer



Step 10


Now try updating iOS device using iTunes.

Now the 3194 error will not pop up.
